Mott MacDonald Finds Its Voice with MJ Flood Technology

MJ Flood Technology, a leading provider of communications solutions, today announced that it has deployed a software-based IP telephony solution for engineering and development consultancy, Mott MacDonald. The solution based on the feature-rich Vertical TeleVantage platform delivers an enhanced customer contact experience coupled with greater employee productivity and is expected to save Mott MacDonald a considerable amount in administrative and telecommunications costs over the lifetime of its use.

Using the occasion of an office move, Mott MacDonald decided to carry out a voice technology refresh. “As a multi-site, multi-disciplined organisation working on high-profile projects such as Luas and the Dundalk Western By-pass, excellence in customer service is a top priority for us,” explains Val Farrell, IT manager, Mott MacDonald. “Our main objectives were to source a solution which could scale with our business growth, accommodate unpredictable movement of staff throughout the company and offer customers easy access to key personnel,” he added.

“We immediately recommended TeleVantage, a next generation IP-based voice solution from Vertical Communications,” said James Finglas, sales director, MJ Flood Technology. “TeleVantage is an open standards-based architecture which runs on powerful Intel voice-processing hardware and a Windows™ operating system. It offers all the benefits of IP with sophisticated call routing and call handling capabilities while protecting investment in existing PBX technology,” he added.

With TeleVantage, calls and messages can be managed through a standard PC. Adds, moves and changes which had been so costly for Mott MacDonald can now be performed in-house using a simple, web-based graphical wizard. The traditional PBX console at reception has been replaced by a standard PC and using the TeleVantage ViewPoint “point and click” features, calls can be directed much more quickly. Mott MacDonald’s existing investment in older analogue handsets is protected as they are fully interoperable with TeleVantage.

One of the most powerful features of TeleVantage is its off-the-shelf reporting capability according to Eoin Mulligan, area sales director – EMEA, Vertical Communications. “As a project-based business, we recognised that Mott MacDonald needed to log every outgoing call against a project for the purposes of billing. With TeleVantage, users simply enter 9 to activate the dial-tone followed by the project code. This allows staff to run a report at the end of the month providing customers with complete transparency on billing, literally at the press of a button.”

“TeleVantage future-proofs Mott MacDonald’s infrastructure well into the future,” comments James Finglas. “The system can be extended to all branch offices across an MPLS network in time, eliminating inter-office telecommunications costs and streamlining the contact experience for all of Mott MacDonald’s staff, customers and suppliers,” he added.

“We have worked with MJ Flood Technology for some time, primarily on the data side,” said Val Farrell. “We have found the team to be technically excellent and very responsive to our needs. Their in-depth understanding of our business and its unique requirements was further underpinned by their innovative approach to our voice project, which is helping to deliver real, tangible business benefits to our organisation.”
